CACC Scoring ("the App") is a free climbing competition scoring app by the Central Appalachia Climbers Coalition (CACC). This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.

Information We Collect

When you register a team, the App collects:

• Team information: team name and team category.
• Team member details: name, and optionally email, climbing ability (redpoint level), and shirt size.
• Competition data: routes climbed, scores, start/finish times, and scoring corrections.
• Device identifier: a randomly generated device ID used to associate your device with your team.

Authentication

The App uses anonymous authentication through Firebase. No email address or password is required to sign in. Firebase assigns a random anonymous user ID to your session.

Location Data

The App requests access to your device's location only while the App is in use, solely to show your position on the crag map for navigation to climbing areas. Location data is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to:

• Run the CACC competition — scoring, leaderboards, and team management.
• Allow event administrators to manage teams, send announcements, and resolve scoring disputes.
• Display your location on the crag map (with your permission).

Data Security

Team passwords are securely hashed using industry-standard methods before being stored. They are never saved in plain text.

Data Storage

Data is stored in Google Firebase/Firestore. The App also caches data locally on your device so it works without cell service at the crags.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Competition results (team names, scores, and routes climbed) may be shared publicly as part of event results.

Analytics and Tracking

The App does not use analytics services, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking tools.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Data Retention and Deletion

Competition data is retained for event record-keeping purposes. If you would like your personal data deleted, please contact us at the email below and we will remove it within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
